Distance Reiki is slightly different from an in-person Reiki session, as the person receiving the energy healing is not in the same room (and sometimes not in the same country!) as the Reiki practitioner.

How does distance healing work?

Distance healing is when the practitioner sends Reiki energy at a distance to the receiver. It is the practitioner’s focus and intent to send the energy to another person that makes it work. Some Reiki practitioners schedule the time when the session is to happen. Normally Reiki energy is sent to a person, but it is also possible to send energy to specific problems or even events, past, present and future. I like to set up a specific time for you to be relaxing, resting and expecting the Reiki.

What do I have to do to receive distance healing?

If you are scheduling a session try to aim for a time when you can be undisturbed and can relax. You don’t have to lie down but it would be nice if you are in a relaxing position. Sit comfortably and open your mind to receive the energies sent. It is your intent to receive the energies that will make them effective.

How do I know distance healing is real?

If you are booking your first distance Reiki session, you just need to be open to the possibility that it could work. Your experience will validate the answer. Energy is not bound by laws of time or space. (You use a cell phone, don’t you? You use electricity? You love people? All of these are energy – invisible and powerful). You have nothing to lose, and so very much to gain. It can change your life. It did for me.

Can I ask for you to send distance healing to someone else?

Yes, you can. But that person has to be aware that the energy will be sent to them. Otherwise, they will feel something and not have any clue as to what it is they are feeling. I will only send Reiki to a willing receiver.

  • Stimulate the immune system and detoxify the body
  • Increase motivation
  • Encourage restful sleep
  • Reduce/eliminate pain
  • Can assist with lack of confidence, impotence, poor concentration, fatigue, nervousness and much more!

What happens during a Reiki session

In person, I would come to you (or you come to me). We would start off by having a chat and you can talk with me about what areas you’d like us to focus on for that particular session (if any) and we would talk through any particular issues you are facing at the time.

When the session begins, you lie on a comfortable surface. You will be fully clothed. I use soft lighting and music (although some clients prefer complete silence) to help you relax. During the session, I will begin the flow of energy through my hands and transfer it by gently placing my hands on different areas of your body. If you prefer, I do not need to touch you. I generally let the energy dictate how much time I spend in a particular area/focusing on a specific chakra/ailment, etc…

If the session is a distant healing session, the process is slightly different (as you wouldn’t be here). If you’re interested in distance healing, the process is slightly different.

How you might feel during a Reiki session

The reactions to Reiki vary from person to person. However, each person reports feeling remarkably relaxed. Some fall asleep. Some fall into a deep, relaxing meditative state. Everyone enjoys it. Some people feel waves of warmth while others feel tingling throughout their body or on certain areas. In many instances the person will feel a combination of the above.

Reiki can and does benefit all sorts of ailments – physical and emotional. It helps rid your body of toxins and unwanted emotions. I currently work as a volunteer for Hospice Toronto and the clients I work with report a significant reduction in pain during and after their Reiki treatment sessions. I have had clients come to me for Reiki sessions to work through the fear of flying, anxiety, depression and to work through relationship troubles/woes.

What happens after a Reiki session?

Directly after a Reiki session, you should allow yourself time to come fully back into your awareness. You may feel so relaxed that you are spaced-out. It is suggested to sit for 15 minutes and sip a cool glass of water.

Over the next little while, you may notice that you are de-toxifying the waste that has built up in your system. You should increase your water and/or herbal tea intake so that the toxins are flushed out more readily. You may want to rest more, so allow time for that. Many clients report having a better night’s sleep after a Reiki session than they are used to.

Most people feel an immediate improvement in their level of pain. Energy and alertness increase daily and a feeling of overall well being may be noticed.
